I was pleased that the Marple Area Committee approved the application by the High Lane Allotments Association to make the Allotments an Asset of Community Value.
An ACV, once the nomination is accepted, allows local groups to be given time to come up with a bid for the asset when it is sold.
The right to bid only applies when an asset’s owner decides to dispose of it. There is no compulsion on the owner to sell it. The scheme does not give first refusal to the community group. It is not a community right to buy the asset, just to bid. This means that the local community bid may not be the successful one but it does give the ACV an added level of protection that it does not currently have.
At the Full Council meeting last Thursday, I asked the Council Leader if the Council were serious about helping Neighbourhood Forums develop their plans or just paying lip service to it? Cllr Ganotis assured me that the Council were serious about helping these forums and it is something I will continue to ensure happens.
I was also pleased to be confirmed as a member of the Neighbourhood Forum Management Committee at their AGM last Saturday.
I am pleased to advise that I have again managed to get car parking charges removed on Saturday 22nd September 2018 for the Marple Food and Drink Festival.
