Assuming the GMSF is published in January as the GMCA has stated, I have organised a public meeting on this topic for the afternoon of 19th January 2019 at High Lane Village Hall. More details to follow soon.
A great night was had by all last night on the first of two tours by Santa around High Lane. I was happy to be one of his helpers last night. Just to see the smiles on the faces on the children and parents alike made it all worthwhile. A HUGE congratulations to the organisers and the volunteers.
The second tour takes place this evening and will tour around the Brookside Estate, starting at approx 5.30pm.

I am so excited to announce the first High Lane Great Christmas Get-Together, organised by myself and Jamie Beecham, will take place between 11.30am and 1pm on Christmas Day, in the High Lane Conservative Club. It is free to attend and open to anyone who would like some companionship on this special day or even just to share tea/coffee, a mince pie, stories and some festive cheer. Spread the word and we look forward to welcoming to you.
Update on Marple Swimming Pool -
At the Area Committee last night, I read out the following statement -
"The Council is continuing the work on the feasibility of providing new leisure and community facilities in Marple following temporary closure of the pool earlier this year.
This work is looking at how we can develop new multi-purpose facilities which will meet the current and future needs of the constituents of Marple area. It includes assessing the scale of need, the demand in the local area, the costs and the viability of any new provision, based on modern facilities.
We are also keen to build a strong partnership with Sport England and Swim England to maximise any funding opportunities.
We recognise and welcome the active local interest in this project and expect to share the first stage of this feasibility work once it is completed later this Autumn. At that stage we will aim to speak to relevant interest groups and other stakeholders during November to guide us towards a further update by the end of the year."
I will continue my campaign and working with Council Officers to get a new leisure facility for Marple.
I am glad to finally see my proposal for the Street Poppies initiative to be extended to High Lane this year actually happen. A big thank you to those who worked on this from the British Legion and High Lane Residents Association. In particular those who put up 30 street poppies to remember those from High Lane who made the ultimate sacrifice and fell in the Great War. #100years #lestweforget #wewillremember
